Leadership – Drill #4 – Your Personal Mindset Statement

Your Personal Mindset Statement

A personal mindset statement or a personal motto is something short, like a short sentence, one phrase or a catchy saying that’s going to help you lock in your focus for your next/current season.  It might be something like Rick Pitino’s One-Day Contract; or John Calipari’s Refuse to Lose; or Coach Wojo’s Win Every Day; or Chip Kelly’s Win the Day; or Marshawn Lynch’s Beast Mode; or my personal favorite, Dominate the Day.

Whatever it is for you, coming up with your personal mindset statement for this season can help you have a sharper focus day in and day out.

Look, the bottom line here is that you are responsible for your success.

There are a lot of factors at play but the #1 factor is always you.

You are your own brand.

You are your own business, and every day you’ve got to show up and you’ve got to do the work.

You have to get after it everyday so that your stock and your brand are worth more today than yesterday, and worth more tomorrow than it was today.

If you want more, you’ve got to become more.

How do you become more?

You become more valuable by becoming more for yourself and for your teammates.

Your teammates and coaches must be able to count on you to show up consistently with a clear mission, vision, core principles and a motto for your season.

Here is a Mental Performance Daily Podcast where I discuss your Personal Mindset Statement.
