How Each Chapter Is Organized

by Brian Cain, MPM

The chapters in this program are organized in a similar manner for consistency and simplicity to help streamline the learning process.

The goal is to provide enough of what and why needed to feel like you have a firm foundation to fall back on, yet keeping everything simple enough that you can begin implementing what you learn as soon as possible.

Each chapter is chock-full of various information, tools, strategies and resources about that skill of mental performance.

Following is an overview of how the chapters are organized so you know what to expect and how to fully utilize the various components provided.

(1) OVERVIEW OF THE SKILL:  WHAT IT IS AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT

The featured skill/pillar covered in each respective chapter will be defined so you have a clear understanding of what you need to develop in yourself to be successful and achieve your goals.

It’s important to define what each skill is so you have a clear operational definition to understand what we are working towards.  We’ll also discuss why each skill is important in and the potential problems that arise if you don’t develop it.

(2) SKILL SET MYTHS AND MISTAKES

In each chapter we will address the most common myths and mistakes athletes make when working to develop that skill.

(3) PRACTICAL APPLICATION / DRILLS / STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVEMENT

This is the section you really want to pay attention to.

Here, we’ll share what integrating each pillar of mental performance mastery looks like in your career as an athlete on a day-to-day basis.  In addition, we’ll provide specific drills and strategies you can utilize to develop and improve each of these skills in yourself

(4) SKILL SET RECOMMENDED RESOURCES

No single text or program can ever be sufficient if your goal is to master a subject. Therefore, at the end of the text we provide you with a host of Recommended Resources that we think you’ll benefit from exploring.
