My Story: 

When I got done formally studying under Ken Ravizza and had my masters in sport psychology in 2003 I was ready to take on the mental performance coaching world… The only problem was, nobody knew what mental performance coaching was and I sure didn’t know what to call myself.  Was I a sport psychologist, an applied sport psychology constant, a peak performance coach, a mental conditioning coach, a mental skills trainer… The list went on and on and the more I changed the more my audience got confused.

Potential clients and athletes that I knew I could help didn’t even realize that you could train your mental game just like you can train your physical game by doing drills to develop skills which create a skillset of mental toughness or MPM.

It was a September day in 2005, I was a high school athletic director having spent the last year teaching high school health and PE and coaching football and softball when the phone rang.

It was the ONE moment that changed everything.  It was a college baseball coach I had known who had recently won a NCAA National Championship as an assistant coach and had taken his first head coaching jon.  He said, “hey, I think we want to work with you, but I don’t have a budget and you are in Vermont and I am in California.  How do we do this?”

After negotiating a flight there once a month for experience with no payment for services so I could get started, that coach introduced me to two of his coaching friends, all three teams had their best seasons ever, two had future Cy Young Award Winners on their pitcher staff’s and since then, they have combined to make over 10 trips to the college world series and won two NCAA National Titles.  Two of the three coaches have moved on to the jobs of their dreams in the Southeastern Conference and two of those coaches are now making over $2MM a year as a college baseball coach.  CRAZY RESULTS!!!!

About that same time I was working, for free (2006), with a UFC fighter from Vermont who was training on occasion in Montreal, Canada and next thing you know he introduced me to Georges St-Pierre, one of his training partners who I started working with in 2006. Georges went on to win 13 UFC championship fights and is known as one of the best MMA fighters of all time.

Along the way I penned 45 books, have worked for two different MLB Organizations, been hired, fired, re-hired by coaches who fired me, been fired after having won an NCAA title, wrote press conferences and opening team meetings for SEC Head Football Coaches making $4MM a year, sued and succeeded along the way. 

All the while I have personally hired and fired multiple business and brand building coaches, some of who’s weddings I was in, while personally learning what works, what doesn’t and how to turn a passion into a 7-figure business.  I’ve done that in 3 different years. If I can do it, you can do it.  There is a specific process to follow.

Throughout my mental performance coaching career, the majority of my time has been dedicated to working in person with teams or individuals.

However, the pandemic moved my coaching online and there has been some great benefits to the consistency that comes with being able to be in 20 different states in the same day by using Zoom.
