CONCENTRATION & FOCUS TRAINING GRIDS
Have you or your team ever struggled with the following?
- The ability to stay focused for an extended period of time…
- Getting distracted by a large crowd, hostile environment or “BIG GAME?”
- Keeping your teams attention while speaking to them at practice…
- Choking in pressure situations time after time even though you have been there before…
Concentration Grids will help you to:
- Gain the ability to stay “locked in” for an extended period of time
- Focus on the task at hand and eliminate the distractions that have killed your performance…
- Increase your teams attention span, so you only need to repeat yourself once…
- Release your mental emergency brake and play to the best of your ability…
“Our players use the concentration grids on a daily basis. Whether it be when they are having breakfast, at a station during BP, in the Lockeroom before a game, or on the bus, the ‘C-GRIDS’ are being used all the time. Our guys have had better focus for an extended period of time and it has helped us sustain focus and energy for the entire game. Going one number at a time is a lot like going one pitch at a time. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that our academic performance has improved as well. If you are looking for a result proven way to improve your focus and concentration, try the ‘C-GRIDS’ you will love them.”

Major League Baseball All-Star Roy Halladay uses the concentration training grid as a part of his pre-game preparation.
Toronto Blue Jays’ All-Star pitcher Roy Halladay uses it. So do many other professional baseball players, Olympic and professional athletes from various sports to improve their abilities to stay focused and locked in to the present moment for an extended period of time.
In an April 16, 2007 Sports Illustrated article titled Second To One by Michael Farber, Halladay discussed how he uses the concentration grid as a part of his mental preparation for pitching. He completes the grid twice on the day before he starts and once more on the day that he pitches.
The purpose of the exercise is to narrow the focus of a lively mind to nothing but the next number, which helps Halladay sharpen his concentration on nothing but the next pitch when he reaches the mound.
When Halladay began working the 10-square-by-10-square grid five years ago, he needed 17 to 20 minutes to finish. Now he has become so proficient that he sometimes amps up the distractions by turning on the TV or listening to songs that he likes. Halladay’s average time was reported to be around 3:30.
“I started using the concentration grids in preparation for my mixed martial arts fights and I have found that training my ability to focus in the present moment has not only helped my fighting career, but has helped me in all aspects of life. The ability to focus, block out distractions and get ‘Locked-in’ is a life skill. I now have my kids do one of these on a regular basis.”

“Our pitchers do grids almost every day when they get to the field as a way to help them segment and separate from school to baseball. They compete with themselves and with each other and help set themselves up mentally for a great training session and performance on the field.”
